Our Mission
NutraHalal mission is to address the unmet need in the halal food market by providing halal, healthy, high quality, and high reliability food supplements, with high integrity ingredients and reliable scientific verification procedures.
What does halal mean?
Strictly religiously-defined halal means “permitted” in Islam. It is the opposite of haram, which means forbidden. Religiously, pursuing halal and avoiding haram is supposed to be highly rewarding. However, over the past 1400 years, the word halal has evolved culturally to communicate a number of additional subtle and gentle meanings. It has added the subtle implication of “goodness” to permission. A halal food is not only permitted, it may also be good, healthy, and positive. This additional meaning is even used outside food. For example, a good, honest, helpful, generous, reliable, fair person may be called in popular language “son of halal” or “daughter of halal” as an indication of respect and endearment. The other additional subtle meaning is “enjoyable”. Again in common language, “halal for you” may be used to congratulate someone for a good acquisition in life, such as a new house or a new car. The other subtle meaning is “honest and reliable”.
The NutraHalal Story
The four founders of NutraHalal share a few things in common. They are all health professionals in different health sciences, educated in the United States. They all share the dedication to science, the passion for innovation and the commitment to quality and integrity. Individually they practice different specialties. However, they all have a strong interest in nutrition as it is the foundation of wellbeing and the undisputable need in health and illness.
Dr. Asem Alshamah, an anesthesiologist, an intensivist and a nutritionist, Dr. Lama Al-Aswad, an ophthalmologist, Dr. Sean Hajo, a chiropractor and Dr. Ridwan Shabsigh, a urologist talked for years about nutrition and discussed various ways to improve nutritional supplements for health maintenance and for various disease states and specialties. The team embarked on a committed pursuit of offering halal, high quality and high reliability healthy food supplements combined with top science for ingredient verification. In addition to choosing the best ingredients, they pursued verification with sensitive and reliable DNA testing. They founded NutraHalal with the vision to become the premier producer of halal, high quality and high reliability healthy food supplements.
